SAMARITAN’S PURSE – Operation Christmas Child

News

October 2016

From children to seniors, every year people pack shoebox gifts to bless children in need around the world.  Parents often use the project to teach their kids about giving.

Year-round volunteers support these efforts across the country and this year staff and volunteers from Maybury Open Door in Harlow are committed to packing 50 shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child.

Up to Thursday 20th October 2016 they have managed to pack 35 boxes already, with only 15 more to go, thanks to people from the centre and Harefield Church making various donations.  They have also managed to raise £80 towards the £150 needed to support the transportation costs of the boxes going abroad through holding raffles, which is an excellent achievement.

Community Worker Karolina Sadowska who is coordinating this work commented

“I am really pleased with the progress we are making with the shoeboxes and have no doubt that we should reach our target of boxes and cash sometime soon”
