Harlow MP Robert Halfon visits MRCT

May 2014

Harlow MP Robert Halfon spent the afternoon yesterday (Tuesday) visiting Maybury Open Door and Harlow Foodbank and met staff, volunteers and some of the people who use our services in Harlow.  He spent the first part of his visit reviewing the work of Maybury Open Door and the Harlow Foodbank Satellite Centre at St Paul’s Church in Harlow Town Centre and then went on to visit our main foodbank warehouse at LOKnSTORE in Edinburgh Way, Harlow where he chatted to LOKnSTORE staff alongside our own staff and volunteers.

Gary Knott (Director of Community Services) commented on the visit

“It was very encouraging to have our local MP Robert Halfon visit us on Tuesday afternoon and spend so much time talking with our staff and volunteers and also sitting with some of the people who use our services.  He was very complementary about our work during the visit and offered his support should we need it in the future.  Robert has previously helped us to obtain Job Centre Plus referrals with our foodbank work and nominated our charity as “Local Charity of the Year in 2012”.
