On Thursday 9th June 2016 at Maybury Open Door at Harefield Church we had a lovely celebration for the Queens 90th birthday!
The party started with the national anthem, “God Save the Queen” followed by well-known songs from the past. The atmosphere was electric and exciting and everyone joined in with the singing, flag waving (English), and even dancing.
For this special occasion we decorated the hall with union jack flags and people on all of the tables joined together and we had ploughman’s lunch, with jelly and ice cream for dessert.
Specially for this occasion Moira, one of our volunteers, had prepared a royal quiz, and for the people with the most correct answers, and best participation, we awarded three prizes (chocolate trays). After lunch we had some entertainment, which included a sing along session with John followed by Jill and Maureen from the Contraband group.
Straight after the musicians had finished everyone enjoyed a cream tea.
The day was a great success and all of the Maybury Open Door team worked very hard to make it happen. What a great day it was!!!
